Read a book you wouldn't ordinarily read. Learn about a historical figure you don't know much about. Volunteer at a retirement home. In other words, just for today--venture into the unknown.

Find a way to give. You could donate cans to a food bank or a toy to Toys For Tots. You could give money to your favorite charity, or just give your time to someone who needs a friend. Giving to others will make you happy--and you'll help someone else too.

Is there a hospital in your neighborhood? Donate children's magazines or used books so children have something to read. Make small notebooks with covers for waiting children to doodle on. It could be a help for parents, too.

Draw A Picture
Make a drawing or piece of art for a senior citizen. Many senior citizens find themselves in nursing homes far from their own kids and grandkids. You can help brighten their days with cheerful and lively artwork. Ask about bringing puzzles and games, baked goods, candy, or a craft project.
